Step 1 - Preparation
All prospective Applicants should familiarize themselves with the Guild and Raid Rules, found here, for if there is something there the Applicant can't live with, the sooner that's discovered the better for all concerned.
The Guild FAQ has some further information on the Fatal Guild, as well as our Recruitment Post in the Alleria Forum. This post, as well as the Frontpage of our Website, has updated information on what Classes/Builds we are seeking at the present time. Further inquiries should be directed to Dunnik or Foxred, our Recruitment Officers.
Step 2 - Register and Add a Character to the Website
From the Frontpage, click the Register button to create an Account. Once complete, Login and click the Website CP (Control Panel) link at the top of the Frontpage. Choose the "Add a Character" link. Fill out the fields, then hit Enter: this will now associate the Character with the Account. The Website CP can be used to Edit a character or add a new one, such as one for an Alt. Creating a Character is needed to have the ability to sign up for raids and have fuller access to the Forums. The system operates much like the Blizzard forums, where you can choose which character to log in as under a single Account.
Once Creating a Character is complete, a new link should appear on the Front Page: Apply to Fatal!
Step 3 - Crafting an Application
The Application itself is a very important part of the process by which one joins the Fatal Guild. First impressions count, the Application is a chance to make a good one. The character information should already have been completed in the Creating a Character stage, that information should now be displayed in the Application. If it is incorrect, the Website CP can be used to Edit the Character as needed.
The sections are as follows:
Real Name: Providing this information is optional, first name only is sufficient.
Location: General geographic location: town/city, country, etc. Providing this information is optional, but recommended.
Raid Experience: A description of the Applicant's raid experience, including what role(s) played and what instances cleared. If an instance has not been cleared, note the number of bosses downed. An example would be: "BT, MH (4/5)". Note that this information will be verified using the Armory and/or other sources. Simply saying "alot" in this section is insufficient and may be prejudicial to the Application.
Raid Availability: By replying in this section, it is assumed the Applicant is familiar with the current raiding schedule of the Fatal Guild. This section is also the place to describe any conflicts that may arise due to IRL commitments: school, overtime, etc.
Previous Guilds: A listing of previous guilds the Applicant has been a part of. Optionally the Applicant may include a brief note on each of the previous guilds and the reasons for leaving. Note that this information will be verified with WarcraftRealms and/or other sources.
Talents: The Applicant should note their primary raiding spec here, as well a secondary spec, if appropriate. A brief description and the numbers will suffice when describing the builds and their talents: there is no need to discuss in detail the various Talents unless the build and/or role is rare or unusual and deserves some further explanation. Primary Spec (aka Main Spec) will naturally take precedence over Secondary (aka Off-Spec) in terms of drafting for raids and item drops. See our Raid Rules for more information on Primary vs Secondary Specs.
Notes to Guild: This is the heart of the Application, and where much of the effort should be spent and is equivalent to the dreaded "Tell me about yourself" question in a job interview. This section may be as detailed as needed, but merely saying "hi" is insufficient and may be prejudicial to the Application.
Notes to Officers: Information provided in this section will only be seen by the Guild Officers, and is the appropriate place to describe anything of a personal or sensitive matter that will or may affect the Application. An example of this might be the particular circumstances of leaving a previous guild, or a personal issue that may affect raiding attendance or performance.
Section 4 - What to Expect
Once an Application has been submitted, it is posted to the Members-Only Application Forum, where the Guild at large will be able to view and comment on it. Armed with this input, the Recruitment Officer will make a decision as to whether to take the Application to the next stages - an interview on Ventrilo and the Tryout.
Note that this process from Application through Tryouts to an Invitation may take some time as the merits and demerits of the Applicant are discussed, and that it may also take more than one Tryout to gain an invitation.
If the Applicant is granted an Invitation, he or she will be tagged as an Initiate for a period of no less than two weeks. Further evaluation will be conducted during this period, and, if merited, a promotion to a Raider position with full privileges will be granted.
We thank you for your interest in the Fatal Guild, and wish you luck in your Application! If you have any futher questions, please do not hesitate to contact our Recruitment Officers Dunnik and Foxred, or our Guild Leader, Sibelle.
