any politicians?
As I am a political science major in school I'm mildly interested in whats happening right now, as it is history in the making.
Obama wins demcratic nominee and seems to be leaning towards Clinton as VP running mate. African American President running with a Female VP, pretty interesting. Only way to bring together the democratic party IMO.
Any thoughts?
p.s. this is me being bored at work again.

RE: any politicians?
<---an outsider view of the news coverage
Most of the press here in Canada(well mostly Quebec for me) has been very Democrat biased and haven't heard too much about McCain.
I am not an American but I read the news when bored at work. IMO the democratic campaign was treated like a circus which can either elevate or destroy it. I do agree that since the Obama fans and the Clinton fans were, at times, equally split they should probably put their swords down and join to save their Democrat vote.
I've heard a bit of wanking about 'Is America ready for a Black/Female President?' Well, I'd like to think that this question shouldn't even be asked! When Canada briefly had a female Prime-Minister of course there was the 'git in da kitchen' crowd but there wasn't too much of an issue about it. Europe has had many female and multiracial leaders.
Another question and maybe a bit macabre. Given McCain is very old do you feel it is wise for Republicans to possibly judge their vote on who he chooses for the VP? you know, encase he dies while in office....
Canadian politics is so boring and the Americans get all the news coverage here, hehe. We just get Hells Angels ex gfs of politicians leaked by hairdressers and Prime Minister's wives wielding Inuit statues as weapons.

RE: any politicians?
I'm pretty politically minded. I'm not sure Obama will choose Clinton as veep running mate. He'll certainly give her a ton of consideration, but the election is more likely to turn on who can win the independents, and she's not so strong there. Now that the nomination is (finally!) sown up, many (not all) of her supporters will start drifting over to Obama. My guess is he will get the majority in the end, though it will be a slower process since she hung on so long.
If he picks the right veep running mate I think he will win more independents than he stands to lose staunch Democrats by not choosing Hillary...that's a bit convoluted but I hope you see what I mean. Some of her supporters will stay home rather than vote for Obama, but not many I think, in the end, and very few will vote for McCain, I believe. Unfortunately for Hillary she has the capacity to incite loathing in some very vocal people including quite a few independents....so he'd be better off without her on the ticket, IMO. We'll see. Whatever he does, he's no dummy, so he will be as politic as possible if he doesn't choose her so as not to alienate her supporters.
Yeah, I don't know if McCain will specifically choose a youngster, but my money is on someone less than 60 for sure, maybe less than 50.

RE: any politicians?
Considering how close the voting is between Obama and Clinton, I'd say that if they want to maximise the popularity they should join forces.
All they're doing is splitting the party's efforts in dividing the popular vote, when they should be ensuring that every person out there is voting Democrat.
I seriously hope that they can work together. As an experienced campaigner and ex-White House dweller Clinton should be able to help Obama a helluva lot. :)

Wow. People that actually watch/read the news and know what is going on. I have also been following all of this closely for the last few months and I personally have to agree with Phir on this one. Also, I agree with everything Siaun says as well.

RE: any politicians?
I pretty much agree with what everyone said, I'm not certain I dislike everyone in the race though. I think McCain is going to pull it off unless Obama and Hilary join; then I think its going to be a really close race.

RE: any politicians?
looking at it from my redneck area pov, very few here will vote for a black man or a woman. we still have a lot of dislike for blacks around this area, and views that women shouldn't get out of the kitchen so to speak.
our "young" Missouri governer has only served one term and isn't seeking a re-election. being that his family is greatly involved in politics; who knows.
don't care much myself for either of the elected canidates. will be an interesting final race to the presidental election.
