Raid Rules

PART II    RAID RULES

Section 1   GENERAL RAID RULES

i. The designated Raid Leader (RL) has full control over the course, duration, content, loot and all other aspects of the Raid. Raiders are expected to abide by the intentions of and carry out the instructions of the RL. Any suggestions, comments or criticisms of a raiding nature should first be directed at the Raider’s CL, who may then if needed inform the RL. Ideally discussion about tactics and strategies in Raids is best done in the appropriate Guild Website Forum.

ii. The designated Type and Class Leads (TL/CL) hold delegated authority by the RL to ensure a smooth and successful raid. Like the RL, the instructions of the TL or CL should be carried out by a Raider to the best of their ability, and also any discussions about tactics and strategy is ideally done before/after the raid in the appropriate Class forum.

iii. All Raiders are required and directed to operate a voice communication program as designated by the Guild. Currently the Guild uses the program Ventrilo, details on how to download and install are available on the Guild Website. Working speakers/headphones and a microphone are also required. Raiders who are unable to maintain a voice communications may be removed from the Raid or demoted to Member at the discretion of the RL or GL, respectively.

iv. All Raiders are required and directed to download and install the Required Mods (Modifications/Addons), a list of which can be seen on the Guild Website. Failure to have said Mods in operation may result in the Raider being removed from the Raid at the discretion of the RL, or demoted to Member at the discretion of the GL, respectively.

v. Raiders are expected to provide the appropriate conventional Buffs as required and at the request of the RL or CL. Consistent failure to provide a reasonable level of Buffing may result in the Raider being removed from the Raid or in suspension/demotion from Raider status.

vi. Raiders are expected to meet a certain general standard of performance during a Raid. Consistently failing to meet these standards may result in a suspension or demotion from Raider status, or removal from the Guild.

vii. a) Raiders are required to join their appropriate Raid and Class chat channel(s). Speak to a Class Leader or Officer for more information.

vii. The Rules of Conduct (Part I, §1) are in force during a Raid.

Section 2     ATTENDANCE

i. All Raiders must commit to signing up to a minimum of three (3) Raids per week. The week begins and ends with the server reset on Tuesday morning. Inability to sign up for a minimum of three Raids in a certain week must be communicated to the RL, GL, or Officers. If a Raider is unable to sign up for three Raids or more for a period lasting longer than three weeks without an official notification for the reasons thereof, the Raider may be demoted to Member or removed from the Guild at the discretion of the GL. Note that to be counted towards the total, players must sign up before the Raid is drafted.

ii. Raiders who are unable to attend a raid they have signed up for due to an emergency or other reasons must De-list on the website at least one (1) hour before the Raid start time and attempt to notify the RL, GL, CL, Officers, or failing that, any other player belonging to the Guild so that they may pass on the message. Raiders who do not show up without De-listing and/or notifying the Guild Leadership are classed as a ‘no-show’ for that Raid. Chronic ‘no-shows’ may have their DKP docked, reset, or may be suspended or demoted from Raider status.

iii. Raiders are required to be ready to go with all appropriate consumables outside the Instance fifteen (15) minutes before the start of the Raid. If the Raider will be logging in shortly before the Raid, the Raider’s characters should be ‘parked’ outside the instance before the last log out.

iv. Raiders who arrive late to a Raid without notifying the RL beforehand may find their spot has been replaced in that Raid or be otherwise denied entry. Chronic lateness without prior arrangement is not acceptable and will be met with DKP deductions, suspensions or demotion from Raider status, or in removal from the Guild.

v. Drafting for the Raid from the available Sign Ups will be undertaken at least one (1) hour before the Raid start time, usually several hours beforehand. Raiders are encouraged to periodically check the website for the Draft the day of the Raid.

vi. Raiders who are not selected for the Draft may choose to conduct other business, but are encouraged to make themselves available as a backup in case of emergency by notifying the Officer in charge of the Wait List. Wait Listed players must be on-line and ready to raid. Raiders who make themselves available in this fashion are eligible for a DKP bonus, see below.

Section 3   ALTERNATE CHARACTERS IN RAIDS

i. As a general principle, Main Characters receive priority over Alts.

ii. The RL will generally try to avoid the use of Alts in Raids as they are by definition, generally speaking, inferior to a Main Character.

iii. Raiders who wish to volunteer their Alt may do so by indicating such in their Note on the Raid Sign Up Page. The RL will the examine the Alt to determine if the Class is a pressing requirement that cannot be filled by a Main, and if the Alt in question has the requisite skills, gear and build for the task that will be alloted to them.

iv. Alts may roll for items but do not earn DKP. Furthermore similar to an Initiate, a Raider or Member's roll trumps that of an Alt. See the Loot Rules section for more information.

Section 4    REDECLARING A MAIN

As noted above, all players belonging to the Fatal Guild must declare a Main character. Players are free to redeclare their Main by switching to an Alt. However, switching Main characters is a serious decision and there are consequences all players must be aware of. The procedure is as follows:

i. Players must notify the GL in writing of their intention to   redeclare their  Main character and provide their reasons for doing so. The proposed Alt must be experienced, have a reasonable level of gear, and possess all necessary keys and tuning. The more ready an Alt is for raiding, the more likely it would be considered as a candidate.

ii. The GL will examine the benefits and tradeoffs associated with the redeclaration to determine if the switch is viable, with appropriate levels of input from the RL and CLs.

iii. If the switch is approved, the player’s DKP will be wiped; the new Main will start with 0 DKP.

iv. Upon switching to the new character, the player will retain the rank of Raider and continue to enjoy all the privileges associated thereof but for the first two weeks will be on a form of probation, similar to the Initiate period, where the player's performance on the new Main character will be evaluated.

v. If the new Main fails to meet the standards required, they will be allowed to revert back to their previous arrangement, to their previous character. Any wiped DKP would be then be restored.

vi. If in the opinion of the RL the new Main would be of little or no benefit to the Raid, and/or losing the old Main would be especially detrimental (i.e., a Healer or Tank to DPS) to the success of the Raid, the request will be denied.

vii. If the request to switch Mains is denied and the player still wishes to proceed, the new Main will be demoted to Member status and may not have any further opportunity to Raid. Players who still wish to Raid in this situation may be encouraged to seek a place in another Guild.
