The Patch 3.2 Thread - Dunnik - 06-21-2009 11:58 PM Patch 3.2 is almost upon us, and it's a big one: one of the biggest and most significant non-expansion patches in the history of the game. Forewarned is forearmed, so check out these links below, and feel free to add any of your own in this thread. From the horses' mouth, the current PTR Notes: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/test-realm-patchnotes.html WoW.com's Guide to Patch 3.2: http://www.wow.com/guide-to-patch-3-2/ A Blue Post on the controversial changes to the Badges system: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=17900051558&sid=1&pageNo=1 An all too-brief section on the new raid instance, the Crusader's Coliseum, which will drop T9: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/underdev/argent-crusaders-coliseum.html Interesting Q&A on the Isle of Conquest and other Battlegrtound changes plus some hints on the future of BG's with a Lead Content Designer: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/underdev/battleground-qna.html Keep your eye on MMO-Champion, most of the recent posts are concerned with Patch 3.2: http://www.mmo-champion.com/ So what does everybody think about the changes? RE: The Patch 3.2 Thread - Fuzzkrom - 06-22-2009 09:52 AM So, Champion Seals are still going to be out there as a currency. Good. Looks like most peeps can get their Uld gear MUCH more quickly. I like the idea of having the same badges in all the instances - as to promote people to play the old dungeons. I still think they should do something like that in the old-world, as MANY have not seen some of the gread raid-instances out there. AQ40 was TOUGH - but would be nice to go back (mounts, and similar badges). I almost think that they should drop heroics...... DAMN Uld25 Heroic is hard. From reading other thread, not many have gotten to those. Dawn was on Hard modes all week, ans was trying Yogg25Hard last night. They too have some 'staffing' issues. Note - they also do 8hrs of 'grinding' to get those achievments and Hard modes completed. RE: The Patch 3.2 Thread - Dunnik - 06-22-2009 02:11 PM Here's the latest piece from the "Officer's Quarters" column on WoW.com, discussing 3.2 from a guild leadership point of view and how the changes - lockouts, badges - even uses of the new Argent Squire - will affect things: http://www.wow.com/2009/06/22/officers-quarters-patch-3-2-an-officers-perspective/#continued RE: The Patch 3.2 Thread - Dunnik - 06-22-2009 02:17 PM As for the Badges controversy, it's worth remembering that the care bears will not be able to get a full set of tier gear - only the helm and chest are available. Additionally while I can only speak for my own toon, I found that the other badge rewards (belt, neck, etc.) are nice but there are clear upgrades within Ulduar and with crafted items. Let's also admit that for our alts, casual friends or raiders coming out of retirement this is great news: it'll be alot easier to make the jump from being a new 80 to being a raider. Course by now I'm used to having seeing the rewards of my hard work given away:
RE: The Patch 3.2 Thread - Dunnik - 06-22-2009 02:21 PM More details on the Crusdaer's Coliseum (CC): http://www.wow.com/2009/06/22/patch-3-2-argent-coliseum-details/ RE: The Patch 3.2 Thread - Dunnik - 06-22-2009 02:23 PM A general Q and A about Patch 3.2, also from WoW.com: http://www.wow.com/2009/06/22/the-queue-patch-3-2-and-beyond-the-infinite/ RE: The Patch 3.2 Thread - Serenade - 06-22-2009 05:58 PM In BC, all the heroics and raids dropped the same kind of badge and we all managed to survive. And now it will be less of a pain in the ass to gear up my alts which I haven't had the time to go do lately so meh, I guess I'll win. I do think that the very quick nerfs to Ulduar and the reward/gear system so shortly after the release of the new content will one day be looked back on the beginning of the end of WoW's rise as the serious gamers are all bailing for good now I think to find more challenging games. But meh, I still need something to do mornings when I'm drinking my coffee. :p RE: The Patch 3.2 Thread - Dunnik - 06-23-2009 11:12 AM PTR Character Transfers seem to be active, though personally I wouldn't xfer over until the PTR itself is up, just to be safe. RE: The Patch 3.2 Thread - Dunnik - 06-23-2009 03:45 PM Some clever datamining focusing on cheeves in 3.2 has found some interesting tidbits: http://www.wow.com/2009/06/23/new-information-found-in-patch-3-2-achievements/ RE: The Patch 3.2 Thread - Dunnik - 06-23-2009 07:28 PM More 3.2 news coming thick and fast: Patch 3.2 is said to include QuestHelper/Carbonite-style icons on the main and mini map corresponding to quest objectives... http://www.wow.com/2009/06/23/patch-3-2-will-show-quest-objectives-on-the-world-map/ Datamining (which should be taken with a grain of salt) continues to score successes: T9 Bonuses revealed: http://www.wow.com/2009/06/23/patch-3-2-t9-set-bonuses-and-relics/ Undocumented class changes (ie, not on PTR list): http://www.wow.com/2009/06/23/patch-3-2-ptr-data-file-class-changes/ RE: The Patch 3.2 Thread - Dunnik - 06-24-2009 01:01 AM PTR is now Live! MMO Champ has some more juicy info, including datamined T9 stats (models are placeholders), new badge rewards, and new crafted items! http://www.mmo-champion.com/ RE: The Patch 3.2 Thread - Dunnik - 06-30-2009 01:06 PM Info on 3.2 keeps rolling in: Preview video of the new druid forms: http://www.wow.com/2009/06/30/video-of-new-night-elf-druid-forms-in-3-2/ Crusader's Coliseum Encounters (Spoilers of a sort): http://www.wow.com/2009/06/30/patch-3-2-argent-coliseum-raid-story-and-encounters-spoilers/ http://www.wow.com/2009/06/30/patch-3-2-argent-coliseum-5-man-story-and-encounters-spoilers/ Pretty big news: you'll be able to extend a raid lockout, i.e., if you haven't cleared a place in one week - take another week! http://www.wow.com/2009/06/29/patch-3-2-raid-lockouts-extendable/ More changes to the badges system: a universal token system: http://www.wow.com/2009/06/29/patch-3-2-brings-universal-tier-armor-tokens/ The official PTR notes have been updated, highlights and the full list in this article: http://www.wow.com/2009/06/29/patch-3-2-ptr-patch-notes-updated/ Finally, while not coming in Patch 3.2, Blizzard will be implementing in the future a system whereby you can - brace yourself - change factions. That's right! Players will be able to magically convert their Alliance player to a Horde one. Details are sketchy at this point, but there will clearly be some kind of fee attached to this, much like sex and name changes, etc. Source: http://www.wow.com/2009/06/29/faction-changes-coming-to-the-world-of-warcraft/ RE: The Patch 3.2 Thread - Fuzzkrom - 06-30-2009 01:40 PM Doesn't matter which bosses you kill, you'll still get your four-piece eventually. Hey there, priest! Is Yogg-Saron being a total cad and only dropping Vanquisher shoulders? Sucks to be you! With this new system, though, you won't run into this issue. So long as somebody's dropping Conqueror tokens, you'll get your set bonus eventually, just by being there for bosses in general. HOLLY Crap - just might start having a change at full sets again ! RE: The Patch 3.2 Thread - Dunnik - 07-03-2009 03:33 PM Full T9 model preview from the Under Development Page: Alliance Mage, Priest, Warlock; Horde Shaman, Hunter. http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/underdev/tier9.html RE: The Patch 3.2 Thread - Dunnik - 07-06-2009 01:46 PM T9 Plate Armor sets video review, courtesy of MMO-Champion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QokScg7jLak&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mmo-champion.com%2F&feature=player_embedded Did I not say it would be fugly? At least if you're fired out of a cannon at your enemies, you should do a lot of damage to them from the spikey helm and shoulders. I think I can safely say this is the 2nd fugliest Warrior Tier set, 2nd only to the legendarily fugly Wrath T2. There are subtle differences between the sets, like look at the chests in particular, the Paladin chest has some kinda eagle face on it, the DK has (what else?) a skull and the Warrior has...dunno in fact what that is. An elongated goats head? Some kind of phallic symbol? The colors are different too but are a bit off: the Paladin should have silver (Knights of the Silver Hand, after all) the Warriors should have gold and the DK's should have a much darker shade than is present. Oh well, lets' hope they do a better job with T10. RE: The Patch 3.2 Thread - Dakwil - 07-08-2009 10:32 PM Has anyone seen any previews of the Epic Gems that are coming out in 3.2? Just curious about what they will be. Also curious if anyone has any ideas about how many JC tokens it will take to learn all of the epic patterns the day that 3.2 drops. RE: The Patch 3.2 Thread - Dunnik - 07-09-2009 04:11 PM Here's an example: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40112 If the current prices for JC pattenrs are any indication, probably might be something on the order of 3-4 tokens per.
